Summary
Responsible for finding and acquiring suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors required for all services that Precision Build Solutions provides while assisting estimating team with gathering all required quotes as needed.
Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Finding and engaging with new suppliers that can provide the company’s needed materials or services.
  • Ensure all products and material meets company standards and the projects specifications/requirements.
  • Attend trade shows as needed to build relationships with potential subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent relationship with subcontractor, supplier, and vendor contacts.
  • Review and understand bid documents, including all specifications and requirements provided in the Request for Quote (RFQ).
  • Obtain and review vendor pricing for materials, subcontract services, etc., and file all relevant electronic information in digital quote folders.
  • Proficient in email communication. This position is heavily reliant on email for a written record of events.
  • Learn and adhere to the company’s estimating procedure. 
  • Inform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of hands-on training and work experience in a steel or fabrication environment.
  • Verbal and written communication.
  • Accurate and detailed oriented.
  • Must have the aptitude for comprehensive reading of plan drawings and the ability to interpret project specifications.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-sufficient and can apply these skills directly to estimates and constructability, to generate competitive bids.
  • Ability to present oneself as professional, innovative, and creative.
  • Able to foster a positive professional work environment both onsite with trade partners and in the office with co-workers.
  • Ability to handle many tasks successfully, even within tight time constraints.
  • Software Requirements: MS Windows, Excel (Proficient level), Word, and Outlook. 
  • Experience with Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of field operations and project management is a plus.

Work Conditions
Team environment; collaborative support among multi-generational estimators, some with decades of experience. 

  • Shop visits as required (1 shop same location as office, another shop ~12 miles away).
  • Some travel may be required for pre-bid site visits or other reasons, once/quarter.
  • Sitting for extended periods.

Reporting

Day-to-day operations report to Estimating/Division Manager.
