Maintenance Manager

Florida Structural Steel - Gibsonton, FL - Full Time

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Maintenance Manager is to manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of the shop and yard equipment maintenance to help ensure continued safe operations. Normal responsibilities will include planning and documentation of maintenance and preventive maintenance by working with shop foremen on equipment that needs repair on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Support all PBS Company Safety Policies to ensure they are followed.
  • Control costs to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance budgets as set by management.
  • Coordinate major repairs by communicating with production leaders and reviewing costs against budget.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Corporate Superintendent, and General Manager for shop-related priorities.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager at other locations to coordinate the repair of equipment based on production needs and safety.
  • Manage and direct all Maintenance Technicians and outside vendors at location stationed.
  • Ensure the shop is adequately staffed for all shifts to meet maintenance needs by communicating with the Shop Superintendent.
  • Perform audits and inspections to ensure work performed meets or exceeds standards and issue corrective action when needed.
  • Maintain the established preventive maintenance program on all equipment and look for improvements to current systems.
  • Ensure the Maintenance Department is complying with all documentation and retention requirements.
  • Organize and control maintenance folder and utilize BIM 360 software.
  • Use established procedure for equipment repair request (Tag Procedure) and look for improvements to current systems.
  • Inform Shop Management of any critical repairs that will affect production.
  • Coach and develop all personnel within the maintenance department.
  • Follow up on all maintenance personnel to ensure that all safety precautions and policies are being followed prior to, during, and after repair or preventive maintenance is being completed.  Ensure that all equipment is repaired to original safety standards.
  • Work with outside companies and vendors to coordinate or assist when needed.

Additional Duties:

Additional responsibilities or duties may be required as needed in support of company operations.

Quality Standards
Must be able to understand maintenance manuals, codes, and diagrams.

Teamwork

Actively participate in all Safety meetings.

Work with and cooperate with all team members including Safety Coordinator, Superintendent, foremen and maintenance personnel.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty above average and always represent the company in a professional manner.  The requirements listed are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

This position will work with the Shop Superintendent in a Continuous Improvement Environment with a focus on Safety, People, Quality and Cost Controls.

Must have a good knowledge and understanding of electrical, hydraulics, welding and burning equipment, plumbing, compressors, overhead cranes, mobile cranes, forklifts, and trucks and trailers.

Education and/or Experience

High School education and a minimum of three years’ experience or equivalent education

Language Skills:

The Maintenance Manager must communicate in a professional manner and show respect both orally or in written form effectively with co-workers, other departments, and foremen.

Reporting:

Reports to Shop Superintendent and works closely with all production managers.
