SUMMARY:
The Senior Quality Control Manager’s role is to develop, maintain and enforce quality control standards and measures for fabrication within the organization. The Senior Quality Control Manager will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help support fabrication processes through careful analysis to maximize the benefit of fabrication/welding practices.

REPORTING:
The Senior Quality Control Manager’s role is to develop, maintain and enforce quality control standards and measures for fabrication within the organization. The Senior Quality Control Manager will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help support fabrication processes through careful analysis to maximize the benefit of fabrication/welding practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads the enforcement of quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, current processes, and/or enhancement to existing applications throughout the bidding, detailing and fabrication/coating process.
- Ensures that quality measures comply with regulatory standards, industry standards, project specifications and accepted best practices.
- Reviews new projects prior to implementation for effective and efficient fabrication and welding process to ensure QC is aware of all requirements and all processes are ready.
- Participates in Project and QC meetings.
- Assists with client inspections and third party inspectors to ensure compliance with quality requirements as well as time frames are coordinated.
- Explores and develops welding/fabrication processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies.
- Directs and manage QC Managers for all facilities to meet quality goals and production requirements as well as individual developmental needs.
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:
- Monitoring Non-Conforming Report issues (internal and external) in product fabrication, welding processes as well as ensure compliance with internal QA manuals and clients projects requirements.
- Apply and develop established metrics to determine the readiness, quality, and operability of processes, equipment and personnel.
- Creates and communicates test, audit plans, manuals and guidelines that will determine optimal QA performance according to specifications; revise as needed, maintaining all documents and enforcing document control.

- Manages and develop QC inspectors (including paint inspectors at plants with painting programs)
- Plans and conducts performance appraisals of QC inspectors; coordinates and administers training, promotions, and disciplinary action when necessary
- Develops, coaches, and mentors QC inspectors
- Ensures:
- Inspections are planned and performed in a timely manner in accordance with applicable code and in accordance with customer contract requirements.
- Tools and equipment are properly calibrated, documented controlled and maintained.
- Staff maintains proper documentation of materials and processes.
- Coordinates in-house inspectors and outside testing services
- Trains QC and production personnel on quality-related topics
- Primary point of contact at plant level for outside quality auditors and inspectors
- Assigns and Audits Lead QC Inspector for fracture-critical work and other critical projects
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a major fabrication industry.
- At least 2 years’ inspection experience in a major steel fabrication or erection company
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector
REPORTING:
- Coordinates day to day with Shop Superintendents, Operations Managers, QC and Project Managers to support their functions
- Reports to Corporate QA Manager
